Responsible for monitoring system activities and workload. Perform initial problem determination for batch processing and act as interface to the client for resolution and restart response
Required Skills:
- Hands-on operational knowledge of mainframe operating systems
- Knowledge of all attached peripherals associated with system management of a mainframe environment
- Basic knowledge of JCL to aid in problem determination of batch applications processing
- Hands on experience and knowledge of the system commands needed to control this environment
- Experience with ISPT/TSO to review os system messaging and alert management
- Knowledge of workload schedulers (ie, CA7, Contreol M) to monitor and respond to workload actions
Preferred Skills:
- z/OS is the platform of choice, however operation knowledge of z/VM and z/Linux is a major plus
- Primary Job Duties:
- Monitor and controls the operation of the mainframe hardware and software – 20%
- Starts and stops system tasks, subsystems and monitor for unusual conditions – 20%
- Monitor batch workload and respond to abnormal results – 20%
- Initiate system startup and shutdowns as required – 20%
- Problem response based spefic directions provided technical team to make sure that production workloads and system operations are perfroming as expected. – 20%
